http://read.thepositiveword.com has been reinstated

Posted 04/10/2009 - 07:49 by Matt

I'm pleased to say that our bible readings site at http://read.thepositiveword.com has now been reinstated. The site has been unavailable for about a week due to issues with our web hosting provider, so I have now re-written the back ground processing that provides the bible text. There are a few items that still need further work:

Are you worried about credit card fraud?

Posted 21/08/2009 - 09:02 by Matt

How safe is our data - in particular our financial data? Can anyone access our bank account or credit card and take money without us realizing until the next statement is due? Should we worry about these things?

Thank God for Jupiter!

Posted 22/07/2009 - 12:18 by Matt

Take a look at this news story: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/22/science/space/22jupiter.html

Jupiter was hit by a big meteor last sunday "leaving a bruise the size of the Pacific Ocean near its south pole". What interested me is the last quote:

The Narrow Door

Posted 21/07/2009 - 10:24 by Matt

It's amazing how you can turn a minor frustration into something positive. This morning I was going to work at the Whitley site, where the car parks are on the outside of the campus and you have to go through a security gate to get in. It was raining, so I had my umbrella, lunch box and my laptop case. I didn't have enough arms. I arrived at the gate which is a very narrow turnstile, and helped the lady in front of me who had got her handbag stuck in the turnstile.

Pecha Kucha

I recently came across 'Pecha Kucha' (usually pronounced in three syllables like "pe-chak-cha") which is a simple way to execute engaging presentations - the rules being that you can display 20 images for 20 seconds each. That's it - the presentation done in 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Some more links here:

Site is back up!

Posted 13/06/2009 - 07:25 by Matt

Sorry for the recent down time, in loading so many of our talks to the new site I seemed to fill the server hard drive and there were some database synchronisation problems! The site is back now, should be faster and no more 500 Internal Server Errors.

So we're back on board - hope you continue to enjoy the site and find it helpful!

First video's created

The first video's are now on the site! See http://thepositiveword.com/content/welcome and http://thepositiveword.com/content/we-believe. Thank you Paul and Tec (respectively) for doing these presentations!

I've also posted some shortened versions on YouTube that link to this site (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=thepositiveword.com&search=tag)

Hopefully, God Willing, we'll be able to make the videos of future presentations available in the same way.

The positive word

I have listened to Paul's talk on the positive word and thought it was really encouraging. Easy to listen to and makes you sit up and think about your life.
