Overpopulation

We recently had an email from someone who used a fake email address. It's a shame because they made a really good point and we could have engaged in a good discussion with them on the problem of the population levels of the planet. Here is the email from "Jesus@aol.com":
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, in 1915 the world's population was just 1.8 Billion people. In 2009 the world's population is 6.8 Billion people. In the past 94 years the world's population has increased by 5 Billion people. That's only one lifetime. In 500 years that will be 25 Billion people. If there is poverty, starvation, global warming and a hole in the ozone layer now, what do you think it will be like in 500 years? Man is literally destroying the earth and himself by over populating. Save your generations from suffering a miserable and horrible end. Stop creating and if you have children tell them when they grow up not to create. Please help spread this message to the entire world.

and here is my reply:

Thank you for your message.

I too am concerned about population growth and the impact that it is having on the planet. However, there is a solution! Jesus Christ (the real one - see Matthew 24:4-8) is coming back to this earth Acts 1:6-11 to set up God's kingdom.

And it will come about in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord will be placed on the top of the mountains, and be lifted up over the hills; and all nations will come to it. And the peoples will say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob: and he will give us knowledge of his ways, and we will be guided by his word; for out of Zion the law will go out, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he will be the judge between the nations, and the peoples will be ruled by his decisions: and their swords will be turned into plough-blades, and their spears into vine-knives: no longer will the nations be turning their swords against one another, and the knowledge of war will be gone for ever. (Isaiah 2:2-4)

God's purpose, through His son, Jesus, is that "earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord". There is a wonderful time to come when Jesus will return and set up God's Kingdom on this earth. He will put an end to war and to famine. He shall judge the nations so that the rich nations no longer hoard the worlds resources and that there will be plenty for everyone. God will cause the deserts to blossom and an abundance of food so that no one need starve.

Yes I am concerned about what we are doing to the earth, but ultimately the solution lies with God, not with man. God has a plan and a purpose for this earth - have faith in Him through His son!

God Bless and Kind Regards

Matt
