We had the following feedback from Thomas by email:
"i heard the message on the lords prayer in ur website .ur named this prayer as lords prayer.read mathew 6:5-15 and luke 11;1-4.
basically its a model prayer taught to deciples.You8 know that Lord jesus prayed many times in the Bibles in different ocations. The why you are Nameeing the prayer in the above 2 references were lords prayer. You are nameing that particular prayer was lords prayer. This is against the spirit of the references.Actuvally jesus had not in prayer at that time.He taught to deciples how to pray.So i think its not proper to name it as lords prayer."
Wayne was saying in the talk that the Lord's prayer is useful for helping us think about how we should pray - he's not saying this is something that should be 'chanted' from memory. Both Wayne and I would agree whole-heartedly with you that this is a model prayer as you state. In fact, about 14 minutes in, Wayne talks about how 'Our Father in Heaven' should make us think about our relationship with God. He's trying to draw out what the words mean so that it is no longer something someone might chant, but a framework on which to build our prayers.
I think we just refer to it as "the Lord's prayer" as that is what many people know it as. Many of the people physically listening to the talk at the time would have had to recite the Lord's prayer every day when they were at school - a practise that is no longer the case.
It would be more appropriate to call it the Disciples prayer. It is the pattern of prayer that the Lord gave for his disciples, it is a pattern we can use in framing our thoughts when praying to God through Jesus.
