Life on Earth - Design not Chance

Speaker: David Burges (Leamington Spa)

Unfortunately there is no recording for this talk, however some of what David said is summarised below:

The Bible states that life exists for a purpose - Numbers 14:21. However, the scientific consensus is that science makes the Bible out-of-date; life came about by random processes, by evolution, so life cannot exist for a purpose. Most evolutionists will admit that there is 'an appearance of design' but it wasn't designed really, but Psalm 104:4 shows that thought and intelligence went into CREATING the world. Romans 1:20.

The woodpecker has:
-Special feet to grip tree bark
-A strengthened tail
-A powerful beak to hammer holes/drum
-A reinforced skull with shock-absorbing cartilage which can withstand forces of 1000G
-A long, sticky harpoon tongue
-The ability to 'undo' the glue on this by the enzymes in its saliva

The cuttlefish has:
-Control of its skin colour and pattern
-The ability to blend into any background, and swap between to the amount of greater than two times per second

The eye, an amazing seeing tool, may have come about by evolution by the following processes:
Light-sensitive patches (as in those of a jellyfish) -> cupped eye (as in those of a marine limpet) -> lensed eye (as in those of a marine snail).
But there is no evidence for this.

In conclusion, as Job 12:7-10 says, it was God who created all this.
